Mount Tambora Volcano Adventure — The Blast That Changed the World
A hike to Mount Tambora is an adventure through time and nature, a journey that blends stunning beauty, solitude, and the thrill of discovery. Starting from lush rainforest at the foothills, the trail leads you through tranquil villages, open savanna, and finally across rugged volcanic terrain toward the rim of the vast crater known as the “Pompeii of the East.”Along the way, you’ll feel the landscape transform beneath your feet, from green jungle paths to golden grasslands and ash-covered ridges, with sweeping views stretching all the way to the sea.
Unlike its more crowded neighbor on Lombok, Mount Tambora remains wonderfully remote and peaceful, a place where you can truly connect with the wilderness and feel the spirit of exploration. Standing at the crater rim, you’ll gaze into the immense caldera left by the world’s largest recorded eruption in 1815, a moment that’s both humbling and unforgettable.
This four-day guided expedition offers a fully supported trekking experience through one of Indonesia’s least-visited islands. From the rainforest floor to the edge of history, Tambora is a blast from the past, the mountain that made history
