For me, this was a trial run in a straightforward hiking / climbing itinerary to get to know Indonesia - and Climb Indonesia - before taking on more challenging hikes. Both Toufan and Junedi were highly knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. Toufan - a former journalist for the FT - is passionate about ecotourism, and was a fount of interesting information about other itineraries across the varied landscape of Indonesia. They were fantastic, ensuring we were safe and hydrated. The camp setup completely blew us away. The crew provided a huge communal tent where our entire group could sit, relax, and stay warm together. On top of that, having a private seated toilet tent at the campsite was a massive luxury we didn't expect on a mountain. To make things even better, the food was absolutely delicious and freshly prepared, especially the Sup Betawi! If you are looking for a top-tier mountain adventure in Central Java, this is it.
