After the big eruption in 2021, Mount Semeru, the highest volcano in Java is closed for hiking because of the continuing of high volcanic activity at the mountain. The current volcanic status of Mt Semeru is on level 3 of a four tier of volcanic alert system and it’s closely monitor by the Indonesia Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center. Hiking and trekking is strictly prohibited, visitor must vacate ( areas) and avoid any activity within a 4 kilometer radius from Mt Semeru Peak
