Sometimes you need a change of scenery, especially after months of self-quarantine. 2020 is indeed a challenging year and suddenly we are now in the month of August. So what to do with your remaining unused vacation days? When multi-days’ adventure and travelling by air are still not the preferred options and most of national parks are still not open from visitors from outside the region, you can consider one of these day trip adventures near Jakarta to some amazing nearby destinations that we curated. From series of rock mountains in Purwakarta (Mount Lembu and Mount Bongkok) to beautiful rainforest in Cisarua (Mount Kencana) and active volcano of Kawah Ratu in Halimun Salak National Park – all within three hours’ drive from Jakarta.

Mount Lembu

Rising above 792 meters above sea level Mout Lembu is not particularly tall, but it offers open views of the region from the bald ledges at its top. The view and panorama is just wonderful. Located in Purwakarta, Mount  Lembu is one of the most accessible small mountains, just three hour away from Jakarta. This is an ideal spot for day trip adventure and family hike. Hike to the peak of Mount Lembu would take 2 hours. From the peak of Mt Lembu you can enjoy mesmerizing sunrise or lovely sunset  

Mount Bongkok

The mountain reaches just about 975 meter above sea level. It is famous for 360 degree beautiful views and the panorama over Waduk Jatiluhur (Jatiluhur reservoir).  The hike to the summit of Mount Bongkok, out and back is 4 kilometres. The trail has many steep sections and normally it takes 2-3 hours from the base of mountain.   

Mount Kencana

As one of the smallest peaks in Puncak Area, Bogor, Mount Kencana reaches just 1,802 meters above sea level. Climbing up this mountain takes 1-2 hours. From the base of mountain we will take the first easy stroll through Ciliwung Tea Plantation. Afterwards, you can enjoy 300 meters of unique wooden stairs surrounded by beautiful rainforest to the top of the mountain.

Kawah Ratu

Located in the heart of Halimun Salak National Park, Bogor, the Queen Crater or Kawah ratu is a volcanic wonder that attract many visitors every day to witness the spectacular crater. Kawah Ratu can be reached approximately within 2-3 hours from Jakarta. Climbing up the Kawah Ratu takes 2-3 hour hike. The trek is 4 kilometres long, through beautiful rainforest, rocks and streams to the crater.
